The Caritas Society honors those alumnae, parents and friends who have left a planned gift to Rosati-Kain High School. There are many ways for one to give to R-K through this society including:

By joining The Caritas Society, you join others who have generously given of their estate through planned gifts. Supporting Rosati-Kain through planned gifts continues our excellence in academics and growth in faith. Your gift directly benefits the young women of Rosati-Kain.

Caritas Society members live perpetually through their gift. Members are honored in Rosati-Kain's Giving Garden and are continuously remembered in our daily prayers and masses.

Do You Know the Importance of Estate Planning Documents?

Everyone should have an estate plan. If a person has not documented her wishes, the state will dictate how and to whom that person's assets are distributed. The state does not provide for any charitable intent in its distribution scheme.

Here are questions to promote your thinking about preparing estate planning documents:

Have you provided appropriately for your spouse and children?
Have you remembered your favorite charities in your estate plan?
Do you know what implications property ownership has on who inherits your assets at death?
Do you realize the effects of your beneficiary designations on insurance policies and retirement plans?
How much will you or your heirs pay in taxes upon your death?
Do you want some of your assets that would go to pay taxes to instead pass to charity?
Will probate complicate the lives of your family?
Who will manage your money or make end of life decisions if you are incapacitated?

Leaving A Legacy

A young man was surprised to find his sick and elderly grandfather planting a small peach tree in his backyard. When the young man asked his grandfather why he was planting the tree, the old man replied, "Son, all my life I have eaten the fruit from trees that other people have planted. I figure I have an obligation to make sure there is some fruit around for others to enjoy."

Types of Planned Giving

Charitable Bequests

This gift, usually given through wills or a revocable trust, enables you to leave a desired amount to benefit Rosati-Kain High School.

Charitable Gift Annuities

This gift establishes a contract between the donor and school and is advantageous to both. The donor receives both a charitable income tax deduction for a portion of the gift and a source of guaranteed income while supporting Rosati-Kain High School.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

This option provides the donor with a lifetime income as well as a charitable income tax deduction. The donor may choose the type of trust: annuity or unitrust.

Life Insurance Policies

This outright gift to Rosati-Kain may be made in whole or by naming Rosati-Kain as a partial beneficiary of the policy.

Real Estate, Stocks, Bonds or Mutual Funds

These outright gifts hold many benefits including an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value in most cases.

IRAs and Retirement Funds

The donor makes a gift by adding Rosati-Kain as one of the beneficiaries of the funds.

Planned Gifts

Planned Gifts to Rosati-Kain directly benefit specific needs of the school. If you choose, you may designate your gift to a specific fund by contacting the Planned Giving Officer.
