For Parents

This teen risk evaluation tool for parents is offered by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (NCADA) of the St. Louis Area:

Your children have lots of friends-they need YOU to be their parent. Ask the following questions when your teen is leaving the house:

Where will you be?
At what phone number can you be reached? (NOT their cell phone!!)
Who are the adults chaperoning the activity? Do you (the parent) know them? Will they be there the entire time? Do they allow underage alcohol, tobacco, or drug use?
Who else is going?
What will you be doing? Are you (the parent) comfortable with this activity?

These are fair and responsible parenting questions to ask.
