Congratulations to Georgia Kaye (left) and Margaret Miller (right), who have been invited to enter the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program’s College Plans Reporting Service. Both students earned PSAT Index scores above 200 and are among 50,000 highest-scoring participants. Of the 50,000 students being offered this service, approximately 16,000 will be named National Merit Semifinalists next fall.

Students in St. Mary’s High School class of 2012 created a visual memorial for the evening.

This three-week academic program for 330 of Missouri’s gifted students preparing to begin their junior year in high school is a residential program held on, and partially funded by, the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia.

From the Missouri Scholars Academy: With a carefully selected faculty and staff, a specially designed curriculum that focuses on the liberal arts, and a variety of stimulating extracurricular activities, the academy enables students to be part of a unique learning community. The academy provides a model that all schools can use in building or expanding their own programs for gifted students. Educators who have served as faculty members have used this experience to benefit students in their local schools.

Of course, being R-K girls, the project expanded and became “A Day (or two) in the Life of R-K” to to include our Centennial Celebration events from throughout the year.
