Since 1911, Rosati-Kain High School has been a place for young women who want to be challenged and supported in faith and in their efforts to become their best selves. Charism Day was created to celebrate the Rosati-Kain school crest qualities of knowledge, humility, virtue and charity. These qualities have been the hallmarks of the R-K education for many generations.
On April 19, 2013, students examined the ways the Charism values assist them while navigating a culture that is saturated with digital media. A day of reflection, Charism Day 2013, challenged students to use technology intelligently and appropriately as women of virtue.
R-K invited a panel of experts to share their experiences with digital media. Panel members included: Andrea Ramsey,’92, director of production for Live Events Momentum; Detective Bridgid Oldani of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department; Charla Claypool, ’00, associate with Lewis Rice Fingersh; and Beth Zak, R-K parent.
After the panel discussion, students examined real life digital challenges while in small groups. Each group identified a set of values, rooted in the R-K Charism, which would inform the ways they act, react, speak, and listen.
Charism Day concluded with every student signing a pledge of commitment to the Charism through a set of defined core value statements for technology use.
