2010 Kougar Kamps

Each summer, R-K offers "Kougar Kamps" for incoming freshmen and other future Kougars. Grade-school level Kougar Kamps help prospective students meet future Kougar friends and learn about R-K. Registration for grade school camps will begin later this semester. Incoming freshmen sessions are for accepted, registered incoming freshmen, and help the class of 2014 get to know current R-K coaches, teachers, and other Kougar athletes, performers and musicians.

Two R-K Seniors are National Merit  Scholarship Finalists

Seniors Rachel Waterman ('10) and Eva Byrne ('10) have been named Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Both seniors continue in competition for Scholarship Awards. Waterman and Byrne were chosen out of more than 1.5 million students who took the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes just over 15,000 Finalists nationwide, and finalists represent less than one percent of the U.S. high school seniors. Both students were named Semi-finalists in September 2009.


R-K Senior Wins First Place in Essay Contest

Two R-K Students Earn the Model of Justice Award

Freshman Jasmin Robles and senior Loren Cahill were honored during a mass to commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They were two of the 23 students presented with the Model of Justice Award, which is given to students who show a commitment to service and social justice in the community. Rosati-Kain High School seniors Rachel Waterman ('10) and Eva Byrne ('10) have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Three additional seniors have been named Commended Students:  Elizabeth Brennan ('10), Grace Holdinghaus ('10) and Julie Secrist ('10). All continue in competition for various awards.

The students at R-K were chosen out of more than 1.5 million students who took the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) Semifinalists represent less than one percent of the U.S. high school seniors.

"This recognition is another example of R-K students' academic accomplishments," said Sr. Joan Andert, SSND, president.  "Our college preparatory curriculum continues to prepare students for the challenges that they will face as college and university students."

Rachel and Eva now have the chance to advance to the Finalist level to compete for one of 2,500 National Merit Scholarships; recipients of this scholarship will be announced in April 2010.

Rosati-Kain is a college preparatory high school, meaning that a student who meets the criteria to graduate from Rosati-Kain will meet all entrance requirements for most colleges and universities.

100% of Rosati-Kain students are accepted to one or more colleges.

R-K graduates are intelligent, spiritual and hard-working.  They understand the value of time-management and self-discipline.  Because of their higher level of achievement, R-K girls earn many awards and scholarships.
